Asbestos Surveys

What the Survey covers that we offer at Dual Roofing Contractors Limited

In all surveys care and courtesy is extended to the client, and we carry out survey in a discrete manner.

If asbestos of a dangerous nature to the health and safety of people within the building is detected, this will be brought to the client’s attention as soon as practically possible, followed by the appropriate method/action (in conjunction with the client’s instructions) to deal with the finding.

Type of survey that will be required by Law to establish the possible presence of asbestos in buildings is:

Visual Asbestos Survey(VAS)

Inspection of all accessible building areas, including roof level (roof level inspection includes use of standard access equipment survey ladders) roof and ceiling voids.

During the survey photographs are taken of the areas inspected. Unique ID labels are placed at the sections inspected on the building and these are logged into a site file and to the inspection map. A view/floor plan is drawn up and the labelled area inspected/tested are indicated within the plan.

Where necessary samples are taken of the building material (roof, tiles, cladding, liners, ceiling panels, etc) this will be analysed by approved methods. The data is then produced stating the material make up (type and level of asbestos in material) and the client is advised at the appropriate time of any urgent action that may need to be taken.

On completion, a bound report is produced and presented to the client including location map of the ID Labelled Zones with the relevant write up. The photographs, analysis, data relating to the building material (where appropriate), laboratory reports and sheets are enclosed with the report along with details of actions required and risk level information. All work carried out will be in conjunction with accredited specialists, and would carry out the testing and analysis of the Asbestos material. This ensures also that all work is carried out in line with current standards and accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service

Type of survey required if demolition or alteration work is to be carried out on a building.

Intrusive Asbestos Survey (IAS)

This would be as in Type A Report (VAS) but with the addition of the following:

Cutting inspection holes in walls/ cavities to establish if there is asbestos based products in areas that cannot be visually and/or easily inspected.
On completion a Bound report is developed and presented to the client. Including location map of ID Labelled zones with write up, photographs, analysis and data on building material (were appropriate) lab reports sheets. Actions required and risk level information.

Dual Roofing Contractors’ can with the assistance of specially trained personnel and equipment, take the appropriate actions were necessary to organise the safe handling and/or removal of hazardous material.

The material bulk sampling and air monitoring/background air reassurance testing can be offered to clients as independent services.
